Finding a Job When You’re Older: My Game Plan

As the election draws nigh, because of the nature of the contract I am on, I am facing the prospect of possibly losing my job. Obviously, because unemployment levels are at the highest they’ve ever been, it’s not a good time to be without a job. I’m talking about the real figures, not the ones the Government gives. People who have been unemployed for so long that they’ve given up looking are not included in the statistics. Because I am approaching the age of 60, my age is already a strike against me.

Fifty years ago, I would have been looking forward to retirement at 62, but today, I’m not able to get full Social Security until I’m 70, and I’m planning on trying to work until 75.
